The EHMHA always welcomes suggestions/proposals from our members. Almost every idea is a good idea. The challenge is often how to implement ideas with limited volunteers, funding or specific resources. It's important to be as clear and detailed as possible.
If you have a suggestion, we ask that you forward it to us and it will be tabled at the next executive meeting for consideration and then voted on by the executive. Email your idea to the relevant person on the executive and copy
suggestions@ehmha.org. The current executive contact list is here.
Suggestions/proposals should cover the following:
Who is proposing a specific idea/suggestion?
Clearly identify which members are supporting this. Something like "The parents I talk to want bigger trophys" is pretty difficult to assess. If enough members want something in particular, chances are we have already heard about it. Anonymous proposals are not accepted.
Which members will benefit from the proposed action?
The proposal should clearly outline this. Members from all divisions have different priorities so don't assume that everyone wants what you are suggesting. Clarify the objective in a simplified way that will help us sell it to the rest of the membership.
What are the specific details of the proposal?
Expand the proposal into enough detail that it can be understood by the executive and members.
How will it be funded?
Are you proposing we increase registration fees? Look for a sponsor? Is the idea self funded? This is a very important part of any proposal or suggestion.
What resources are required and are they available?
How will your idea be executed? Make the assumption that the executive is already working at capacity. Should your proposal replace an existing initiative? Is it sustainable in future years? Can you bring in the resources to help us make this happen? |
